Apple’s camera-equipped AirPods won’t launch until 2027

Apple's camera-equipped AirPods won't launch until 2027.

Apple’s camera-equipped AirPods won’t launch until 2027 despite the demo video MacRumors found earlier this week, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

On Monday, MacRumors shared a demo video featuring the camera-equipped AirPods in action. The video was hidden in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate, suggesting Apple was preparing for a launch.

Apparently not, according to Gurman. He adds that the “AirPods Pro 4” won’t be able to take photos and still has some issues to be resolved before its release.

Here’s what Gurman had to face in a recent Power On newsletter: For years, Apple has been working on the camera AirPods under the code name B798. This device was initially scheduled for release in 2026 before being postponed until 2027, I’ve reported. But Apple has also been developing another version under the code name B790 (Apple famously creates competing versions of the same product internally).
