Apple will donate to earthquake relief efforts on the ground in Indonesia

Apple will be donating to earthquake relief efforts on the ground in Indonesia.

In a X post, Apple CEO Tim Cook said Apple will be donating to earthquake relief efforts on the ground in Indonesia.

“Our hearts are with the people of Indonesia following the devastating earthquake,” he said. “We are grateful for the first responders giving support and helping those in need. Apple is donating to support the relief efforts on the ground.”

Around 5,000 people have been evacuated after a magnitude-7.7 earthquake rocked eastern Indonesia, killing at least 53, blocking roads and causing landslides, authorities said on Sunday, reports Reuters. More than 130 people have been injured.

Saturday’s quake was the Southeast Asian nation’s deadliest since a 2022 quake killed hundreds in West Java, notes Reuters. The area of the quake was hit in 1992 by a magnitude-7.5 earthquake that caused extensive destruction, Indonesia’s geophysics agency said.
