Apple rumored to already be working on the third generation ‘iPhone Fold’

iPhone Fold/Ultra concept

Apple is making plans for its third-generation foldable iPhone, even though the first version isn’t out yet, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.

He says it will arrive as early as 2028. The first foldable iPhone — likely to be dubbed either the “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” — is expected to debut in September or October. The leaker known as “Digital Chat Station” says in a Weibo post that the second generation foldable will have the same display as the first gen. Both are expected to use a foldable 7.8-inch OLED panel supplied by Samsung. The iPhone Fold 2 will likely debut in September or October of 2027.

According to Gurman, the third generation will apparently feature slightly larger displays on both the inside and the outside compared to its predecessors, although he didn’t mention specific prices. The first foldable iPhone is expected to launch with a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch cover display,
