Apple rumored to be working on two new Apple Pencils to meet upcoming European Union requirements

Apple is rumored to be working on two new Apple Pencils to meet upcoming European Union requirements.

In this week’s “Power On” newsletter Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple is working on two new iterations of the Apple Pencil to go along with a new iPad Pro in 2027.

He says a lower-end Apple Pencil with a USB-C port and a higher-end Apple Pencil Pro are coming. Gurman thinks they’ll have new battery systems to meet upcoming European Union requirements for making batteries more replaceable.

If you’re doing an upgrade of the Pencil Pro, Apple, how about giving us one in black.

As for a new iPad Pro, don’t look for one this year. Gurman says the next upgrade will arrive in 2027. He says it will sport either an M6 or M7 processor, but have no major design changes. However, he’s previously reported that the upgraded tablet could have a vapor chamber to improve cooling and performance. The liquid cooling system would help mitigate throttling, especially as the ‌iPad Pro‌ becomes more capable at handling intense workflows.
