John Ternus — who will replace Tim Cook as Apple CEO on September 1 — may push to make Apple TV ever more competitive, according to a Deadline report.
The article quotes folks inside Apple’s Cupertino, California headquarters and in L.A. as saying Ternus is a fan of the streaming service and watches its programming.
“If anything, John wants to make it more competitive,” one unnamed “Apple insider” told Deadline. Ternus attended Apple TV’s F1 premiere and is a known racing fan. Apple TV last fall inked a five-year rights deal for Formula 1 in the U.S. Ternus also is said to have a strong relationship with Apple Services Senior Vice President Eddy Cue, who oversees Apple TV.
Interestingly, one tech insider told Deadline that the well regarded Cue, 61, could get an expanded role while another that Cute might retire. The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks there’s little to no change Cue will retire.
