A building permit filed in Zurich confirms Apple is planning a new retail store at Lintheschergasse 7, near the city’s famous Bahnhofstrasse shopping street, with construction set to run through early 2027, reports MacRumors.
The permit, submitted to the city of Zurich in February and reviewed by Swiss Apple publication macprime, explicitly describes the project as a “Bahnhofstrasse Relocation” and includes Apple’s internal designation “R159” for its Zurich store. The planned location sits at the corner of Lintheschergasse and Usteristrasse, adjacent to the Globus department store.
Apple currently operates four retail stores in Switzerland. These locations are distributed across Basel, Geneva, and two sites in Zurich (one in the city center and one in the Glattzentrum mall in Wallisellen).
When the store opens, Apple will have about 538 stores across more than 25 countries. The United States holds the largest concentration, with 272 stores (as of February 2026), while the remaining 260+ locations are spread across international markets, including China, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
