Apple Vision ProOpinionsRumors

I’m dubious, but a report claims the second gen Apple Vision Pro is coming this year

An upcoming Vision Pro could be tethered do a Mac or iPhone.

I hope this is true, but I’m dubious: the second-generation Apple Vision Pro may now be in mass production ahead of its rumored launch within a year, according to the Chinese website IT Home.

According to the article multiple independent sources confirmed that the panels, shells and other key parts of the second-generation spatial computer are already in production. Among them, Lansi Technology exclusively supplies glass panels for Vision Pro 2; Changying Precision provides shell parts for Vision Pro 2; and some electronic circuit device suppliers are rushing to place orders, according to IT Home.

Rumors of a Vision Pro are all over the place. IAs to follow-ups to the Apple Vision Pro, the rumors are all over the place. Apple plans to release an updated Vision Pro headset with a M5 chip in 2025, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a November 2024 “X” post. The current Vision Pro is equipped with the M2 chip, which debuted in 2022. Kuo thinks a less expensive spatial computer has been delayed to 2027 or beyond.

And in an October 13, 2024 “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple could release a new Vision Pro next year for about US$2,000, compared to the current model’s starting price of US3,499.

He said that Apple will lower the price by using a less powerful processor and more plastic, less aluminum and glass. Gurman added that the next version of the spatial computer will also drop the EyeSight feature. EyeSight reveals your eyes on the front of your Apple Vision Pro, and lets those nearby know when you’re using apps or fully immersed in an experience.

Apple is also purportedly working on “Apple Glasses,” smartglasses that would have a design more akin to regular eyeglasses than the Vision Pro. However, don’t look for them to arrive for at least a couple of years.
