A move from 3nm chips to 2nm chips could increase the price of Apple devices

Apple will “definitely use TSMC’s 2nm process” in its chips next year, according to leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo. This could lead to a price increase for Apple devices using a 2nm chip.

The 2nm process offers significant advantages over the 3nm process, including increased performance and reduced power consumption. Apple manufacturing partner TSMC says its 2nm process delivers a 15% performance gain and a 30% power improvement compared to the previous 3nm node.

This translates to faster speeds and longer battery life in devices. However, this will come at a price. The cost of a 2nm wafer is, according to estimates,  $30,000, compared to $18,000 for 3nm chips.
