In this week’s Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that MacBook Pros and iPad Pros with M5 processors will arrive this year as expected. They’ll likely arrive in the September/October timeframe.
Expect the MacBook Pro to be the first device to sport the new chip, followed by the iPad Pro. This would reverse what happened in 2024 when the tablet surprisingly got the M4 processor before the pro laptop.
The next versions of the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro are expected to have the same design as the current models. However, Gurman says that Apple plans an overhaul of the MacBook Pro in 2026 when a laptop with a M6 chip debuts.
