In a note to clients — as noted by MacRumors — analyst Ju Pu said that mass production of both a foldable iPhone and a foldable iPad will begin in the second half of 2026. However, he offered no further details.
Rumors of such devices have been rumored for some time. This rumors gained traction when, in a January 10 post on Medium, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that a foldable iPhone will enter mass production this year.
I’ve long been skeptical that Apple would release an “iPhone Fold” because of technical problems. As noted by Screenrant, foldable screens are difficult to produce, have “wrinkes,” and the hinges are prone to failure. However, a new report says that Apple has found a way to overcome such problems.
According to ET News, the tech giant is working with its manufacturing partners to “differentiate itself from the existing foldable phone, Apple decided to eliminate wrinkles regardless of price.”
“The folds are closely related not only to the display material and parts, but also to the hinges that enter the smartphone body. It is said that cooperation between related companies was promoted by being connected organically,” according to ET News. “In particular, the cover glass and hinge attached to the top of the display are considered to be the key parts that differentiate the performance of foldable phones, and Apple has overcome this.”

As far as a foldable iPad, Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station claims such a table will feature an under-display Face ID. The rumor says that one of Apple’s engineering prototypes features an 18.8-inch foldable screen with a “metal superstructure lens” that integrates the receiver and transmitter components of Face ID for under-display facial recognition.
As for the size of a foldable iPad, most reports claim it will pack a 20.3-inch screen.
