Apple may add search ads to its Maps app

Apple may add search ads to its Maps app.

Apple may add search ads to its Maps app, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter. The company already does this with its News and Stocks app.

“A few years ago, Apple employees explored integrating search ads into its Maps apps,” he writes. “It would work similarly to Google Maps, where a business could pay Apple to have their restaurant or venue appear higher in search results.”

Gurman says Apple is now reconsidering the idea. The goal is to boost its in-hour ad business.
