Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweets that supply issues shouldn’t have too much impact on iPhone 14 production.
From his tweet: I have learned that recently some iPhone 14 panel and memory suppliers have experienced supply issues, but it should have a limited impact on the coming mass production of the iPhone 14 because other suppliers can fill the supply gap.
° LPDDR5: Samsung is almost the sole supplier for 3Q22 and can meet iPhone 14 Pro production ramp-up demand. Micron & SK Hynix will likely ship in 4Q22 at the earliest because the former’s certification schedule started later, and the latter encountered quality issues.
° Samsung and BOE can largely fill the initial supply gap caused by LG Display’s panel appearance issues (iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14, mainly the former). It’s expected that LG Display should not take much time to address the issue.
The iPhone 14 line-up is expected to be unveiled in September. Here are some of the rumors about the smartphone upgrade:
Some models may cost US$100 more than their iPhone 13 counterparts.
° Apple make its latest A16 processor exclusive to the Pro models in the iPhone 14 lineup.
° At least some of the models will be eSIM-only.
° The iPhone 14 Pro will contain 8GB of RAM.
° Some will sport 120GHz displays.
° The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will have a hole + pill design.
° The top two models have also have OLED screens.
° They will support the Wi-Fi 6E standard.
° Black, white, blue, red and purple will be the color options for the iPhone 14, while graphite, gold, silver and purple will be available on the iPhone 14 Pro.
° There will be a new purple colorway for both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro that shifts in tone depending on the lighting.
