Analyst: Apple will release a 27-inch Studio Display Pro with ProMotion in early 2023

There are rumors that Apple plans a “Studio Display Pro” with ProMotion support— and a new report shows there’s a good reason why it should.

During the latest episode of The MacRumors Show, analyst Ross Young said the rumored Apple external monitor (27 inches) may not launch until early 2023.

Unlike the US$1,599 Studio Display, that one will support ProMotion technology for refresh rates up to 120MHzYoung in addition to a mini-LED panel. Ross doesn’t think the display will be promoted as a replacement for the $4,999, 6K Pro Display XDR.

Still, the addition of mini-LED and ProMotion tech is likely to result in a higher price tag than that of the Studio Display, he adds. Studio Display Pro, anyone?

If Apple is offering a third external monitor, I’d love to see a 30-inch or 32-inch model with ProMotion at a price no more than $1,999.

On the latest episode of The MacRumors Show, Young also said that:

° The rumored 15.2-inch MacBook Air will launch in early 2023.

° The Apple Watch Series 8 model with a larger 1.99-inch display is expected to sell in comparatively low volume, which could indicate a high retail price.
