Look for a 27-inch iMac, updated 24-inch iMac this fall

A new rumor says Apple is working on an iMac with a 30-inch (or bigger) display.

Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) Ross Young says that we can expect a 27-inch iMac this fall. I think he’s right and that we’ll see an updated 24-inch all-in-one, as well.

Young tweets: The 27″ MiniLED monitor has been delayed as it was going to be produced at Quanta in Shanghai which has been locked down. Production is in the process of being moved to a different location and has been delayed. It now looks like an October release.

The tweet doesn’t mention an iMac. However, the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) says that’s almost certain to be the case. After all, Apple released the 27-inch Studio Display earlier this year. Releasing a second monitor of that size makes little sense.

A 27-inch iMac was widely believed to be unveiled in March. That didn’t happen. I’m expecting it will arrive this fall with M1 Pro, M1 Max, and possible M1 Ultra processor options.

I’m also expecting an updated 24-inch iMac with an M2 (maybe even an M3) in the last quarter of 2022, as well.
