Notable apps and updates: August 31

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Cisdem AppCrypt for Mac has been upgraded to 6.2.0 with a fix for a password setting issue.

AppCrypt is an app locker and website blocker for Mac. It can lock one or multiple or all apps on Mac with one password. If someone who tries to open locked app enters a wrong password, AppCrypt will generate a report of the failed attempt and take a picture of the person. In the app’s Preferences, users can disable or enable the picture taking functionality. Version 6.2.0 brings support for blocking websites on Microsoft Edge, Opera and Brave and adds a few new features.

Cisdem AppCrypt for Mac is available for download and purchase at the Cisdem AppCrypt for Mac website. Users can get a lifetime license with US$29.99 and have lifetime free upgrades. A demo is available for download. It requires macOS 10.12 or later.

iOS

505 Gameshas rolled out Assetto Corsa Mobile, a new portable version of its flagship racing game series for $4.49.

Here’s how the game is described:

Inspired by the acclaimed Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Mobile simulates the feel of a real driver’s cockpit. Choose from six different modes: start with Practice to learn the ropes, then move on to Classic Race to test those skills. Compete for the best lap time in Time Attack, hone consistency in Endurance, learn to maneuver around opponents in Overtake, and strive for pure velocity in Speed Camera.

Get behind the wheel of 59 official race cars and speed down 9 different circuits, each laser-scanned directly from Assetto Corsa. Each track has time of day variations and weather conditions — rain challenges even the most seasoned racers. Digital Tales took special care with Assetto Corsa Mobile’s controls to make even racing in the rain fun: customize inputs with tilt functionality, touchpad controls, and acceleration assist.

Tropical Software has updated TopXNotesLite for iOS. The app features note creation and editing in landscape and portrait modes, emailing a note, clickable hot links, and note synchronization with TopXNotes for Mac.

Version 1.6 contains 4-way sorting in the NoteOrganizer, as well as improvements to its WiFi based NoteSync process & bug fixes. The TopXNotes family will keep your notes synchronized between TopXNotes Mac 2.0 and TopXNotes Touch for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

TopXNotesLite is part of the TopXNotes Freemium Note Suite (comprised of TopXNotesLite, TopXNotes, and TopXNotesPro.) TopXNotesLite for iOS 1.6 is free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store.
