Notable apps and updates: March 24

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Steam Link, which allows users to stream Steam games from a computer to another device, has launched on the Mac App Store. And it’s free.

Steam Link allows you to play your Steam games across all your computers. Just pair a MFI (“Made for iPhone”) or Steam controller to your Mac, connect to a computer running Steam on the same local network, and start playing your existing steam games. Steam Link requires macOS 10.13 or higher.

.com Solutions has announced Screenshot Toolbar 1.0.5, an update of its screen capture utility.

The app gives access to multiple screenshot options, without having to remember various command keys or command line options. Screenshot Toolbar 1.0.5 requires macOS 10.11 or higher and costs US$9.95.

Ohanaware has released App Wrapper 4.2, an update to their post-build processor for the macOS.

It was specifically designed to simplify the process of preparing applications for submission to the Mac App Store and deploying on web sites. Version 4.0 resolves some issues, provides more options and improves App Wrapper accessibility.

App Wrapper 4.2 requires macOS 10.13.6 or higher and costs $49.99 for a single user license and one-year update plan. A demo is available for download.

Zevrix Solutions has updated PDF Checkpoint, its PDF preflight and conversion tool, to version 1.9.13.

The tool automatically preflights, splits, exports as images, and optimizes Adobe PDF files. The app can also convert the PDF document colors to selected ICC profile helping users easily prepare their files for print, web and mobile devices. Version 1.9.13 improves preflighting of PDFs created by Scribus and ensures reliable parsing of PDF/X tags.

PDF Checkpoint can be purchased at Mac App Store and Zevrix website for $39.95. The update is free to licensed users. A demo is available for download. PDF Checkpoint requires macOS 10.9 or higher.
