Rumor: Apple working on a MagSafe battery attachment for iPhones

Apple is working on a magnetically attached battery pack for the iPhone 12 line-up, a MagSafe accessory that would wirelessly charge the phone and “provide the company with another potentially lucrative add-on product,” according to a Bloomberg report from Mark Gurman.

He says the tech giant. The iPhone 12 models and the MagSafe technology were introduced in October.

Apple says that MagSafe “improves wireless charging for a better, more efficient experience and introduces an ecosystem of easy-to-attach accessories that beautifully complement iPhone 12 Pro models.” It features an array of magnets around the wireless charging coil that connect to the iPhone  and provide up to 15W of power while still accommodating existing Qi-enabled devices.
