Analyst thinks the ‘Apple Car’ will see Apple become a ‘full-fledged manufacturer’

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — investment bank JP Morgan predicts that the “Apple Car” will be a fully autonomous vehicle that Apple manufactures itself toward the end of the 2020s.

Lead analyst Samik Chatterjee thinks Apple will “go big or go home” and position itself as a full-fledged manufacturer. The analyst points out that Apple is likely eyeing an expected shift toward autonomous vehicles as an opportunity to differentiate its offering.

Chatterjee’s idea that Apple will be a “full-fledged manufacturer” that goes a against a weekend report that Apple and Hyundai plan to sign a partnership deal on autonomous electric cars by March and start production around 2024 in the U.S. according to Korea IT News (as noted by Reuters). Both companies have declined to comment on the rumor. However, that arrangement makes more sense to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) than Apple becoming a full-fledged auto maker.
