News round-up: Apple store closings, Apple Music app issues, more

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up of news items you should check out.

° Four Apple stores in Victoria, Australia are set to re-close for up to six weeks from July 9, following a spike in coronavirus infections in the state, reports MacRumors.

° Some users of the Apple Music app in iOS 13.5.1 are reporting that their iPhone batteries are being significantly and rapidly drained, even when not playing music.

° RTÉ News says the ruling in the Apple tax case is to be delivered next week. In a statement.

° Intel has shared new details on the upcoming launch of Thunderbolt 4, which is set debut later this year.

° On its YouTube Channel, Apple has posted video in its “Behind the Mac” series. It offers a look at the Apple tools used by GRAMMY award winning musician James Blake in his home studio.

In a research note to MacRumors, analyst Jeff Pu predicts that iPhone 12 pricing will start at $749 for a new 5.4-inch model, an increase of $50 over the base model ‌iPhone 11‌ for $699. Pu said the price is primarily attributed to the addition of 5G and an OLED display on all ‌iPhone 12‌ models, whereas the base ‌iPhone 11‌ has an LCD.

To help customers from having to wait in line or getting turned away at the door, Apple is rolling out a “Shop with a Specialist” option in its Apple Store app.
