Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions has hired Terry Wood from Netflix to head up the company’s production plans for original content for Apple’s upcoming streaming video service.
“Terry has broad experience across the media industry and an extensive knowledge of what connects to viewers in a meaningful way,” Winfrey told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “I look forward to working with her as we create content for Apple that can impact people around the world.”
In June 2018, Apple announced a unique, multi-year content partnership with Oprah Winfrey, the producer, actress, talk show host, philanthropist and CEO of OWN. Together, she and Apple will, per a press release, “create original programs that embrace her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world.” Winfrey’s projects will be released as part of a lineup of original content from Apple.
Wood comes to Harpo after a four-year stint at Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter says she oversaw the launch of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Chelsea Handler’s talk show and David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
