Fourteen members of Congress demand Apple, Google remove Absher app from app stores

Fourteen members of Congress wrote to Apple and Google’s CEOs on Thursday demanding they remove Absher (pictured), an app which allows men in Saudi Arabia to track and control where women travel, reports Business Insider.

Representatives including Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Katherine Clark, and Jackie Speier accuse Google and Apple of being “accomplices in the oppression of Saudi Arabian women” for hosting the app on their app stores. Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google both promised to investigate the app two weeks ago, but have not made any obvious progress since, notes Business Insider.
