According to Japanese blog Mac Otakara — as noted by MacRumors — Apple’s upcoming 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will be about “the same size” as the iPhone 8 Plus with an edge-to-edge display and support for horizontal Face ID.
Quoting an unnamed “reliable supplier source,” the article claims the smartphone will be 0.2mm thicker than the iPhone 8 Plus due to the rear camera design that will include a vertical dual-lens camera. Regarding the follow-up to the iPhone X, Mac Otakara says it will use the same body as the X, but will feature a larger rear camera lens attributable to a bigger camera sensor.
Former KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that the 2018 iPhones will ship in 5.8- and 6.5-inch sizes in OLED, with a lower-priced ($700-$800) 6.1-inch device coming, as well. He believes the latter will have a single rear camera, and an aluminum frame rather than stainless steel. Kuo Kuo says the lower priced smartphone will lack 3D touch, and have 3GB of RAM, as compared to 4GB in the OLED models.
