Apple spent $7 million lobbying the Trump administration in 2017, according to a Recode report. That’s the most the tech giant has ever spent lobbying.
Apple pressed forward on issues like encryption and immigration. Like the rest of the industry, the Cupertino, California-based company advocated for the tax reform law recently signed by Trump.
Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google cumulatively racked up a roughly $50 million tab fighting off President Donald Trump and an onslaught of new federal regulations last year — “a reflection that the tech industry is increasingly under political siege in the nation’s capital,” says Recode. Google spent more than $18 million in lobbying, Amazon spent $12.8 million, and Facebook spent $11.5 million.
Apple continues to increase its Washington activities. For example, it spent $4.68 million in 2016, $4.48 million in 2015, and $4.11 million in 2014.
