A plethora of HomeKit-compatible products have been announced at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Apple’s HomeKit is a framework that allows control of compatible home automation devices through iOS and Siri.
D-Link introduced the new Omna 180 Cam HD (DSH-C310). The first in the company’s Omna family of HomeKit enabled devices, the Omna 180 Cam HD provides a way for users to monitor their home. It offers a comprehensive 180-degree field of view to monitor an entire room and Full HD 1080p video quality. The Omna 180 Cam HD will be available in the first quarter of 2017. Pricing hasn’t been announced.
Leviton has announced the development of new Decora Smart Apple HomeKit-enabled lighting control accessories for use with your iPhone or iPad, including in-wall dimmers and switches. The app-based setup and control allows users to install a Leviton HomeKit-enabled accessory and begin controlling lighting and loads from Apple’s Home app or the free Decora Smart Home iOS app. No hubs or bridges are required. The Leviton products will be available in April; pricing hasn’t been announced.
Honeywell says its Lyric C1 and C2 Wi-Fi indoor cameras will be HomeKit-compatible. An 8GB SD card comes with every Lyric C1 and C2 Camera to ensure recording can happen even if the home Wi-Fi isn’t working. Free cloud storage per day is also included, with 7- and 30-day upgrades available. The Lyric app provides access to livestreaming, recorded events, screenshots, and will send alerts when something is seen (or even heard and analyzed using the built-in microphone, such as a smoke/CO detector going off, or a crying baby). Apple HomeKit compatibility for the Lyric Home Security and Control System will be widely available within the first three months of 2017.
Yale has previewed a $75 HomeKit module that plugs directly into existing hardware, offering owners the ability to control select smart locks with Siri and Apple’s Home app. It’s due in March.
