Apple has won an appeal in its tech patent battle with Farstone, a PC backup service, reports AppleInsider.
The appeals court ruled that Apple didn’t violate patent number 120,835, which involves graphic user interfaces used to backup and restore data stored on a computer — such as Time Machine on the Mac. Farstone claimed Apple violated its patent and sought an injunction against Time Machine, triple damages suffered by the company as a result of willful patent violation, and an ongoing royalty agreement.
Farstone makes products for the PC, including RestorIT, One Recovery, Driveclone, TotalRecovery, and VirtualDrive.
