With iOS 12, Apple disables a iPhone feature used to circumvent security

Apple is disabling an iPhone feature which has been used by law enforcement officials in pursuit of evidence to circumvent a phone’s security settings, the tech giant told Law360.

“USB Restricted Mode” in iOS 12 will effectively disable the phone’s charging and data port an hour after the phone is locked. To transfer data to or from an iPhone using the port, the phone’s password has to be entered.
