‘When Heroes Fly’ action thriller flying to Apple TV+

Mark Boal, the The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty screenwriter has landed a straight-to-series order at Apple for a scripted action-thriller based on Keshet’s When Heroes Fly, from creator Omri Givon and inspired by the novel by Amir Gutfreund, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 10-episode drama, called Echo 3, revolves around Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist. When the American goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother and her husband — two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts — struggle to find her in a layered, personal drama, set against the explosive backdrop of a secret war.

Boal will serve as showrunner alongside Jason Horwitch (Berlin Station, House of Cards). The series will feature dialogue in both English and Spanish and is part of Apple’s international original programs for its Apple TV+ streaming service.

Apple TV+ is available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices, as well as at tv.apple.com, for US$4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial.

For a limited time, customers who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod touch can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free. This special offer is good for three months after the first activation of the eligible device. For more info, visit apple.com/tvpr.
