We need an Apple Pencil that works with the upcoming AirPower

I really like my Apple Pencil —and really dislike the process of charging it. We need a better solution. How about an Apple Pencil that works with the upcoming AirPower?

Currrently, to charge the Pencil, you take off its cap and plug it into the Lightning connector on your iPad Pro. This creates two problems. One: that darned cap is easy to lose (ask me how I know). Two: the Apple Pencil sticks out from the iPad Pro like a sore thumb, just waiting to be snapped off (which would be bad for the input device AND the tablet).

You can also plug your Apple Pencil into a USB port with the Apple Pencil Charging Adapter and a Lightning to USB cable. This is still inelegant.

Would it be feasible to have an updated Apple Pencil that works with the AirPower when it’s released? Apple’s wireless charging pad will purportedly be able to charge a Qi-compatible iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a pair of AirPods (in a special wireless charging case) at the same time regardless of where they’re placed on the pad. It would be sweet if we could add the Apple Pencil to the list of compatible devices. (The AirPower hasn’t been priced yet, but guesses have it costing anywhere from $150 – $200.)

If not, how about an Apple Pencil that can charge with the under-utilized Smart Connector on the iPad Pro? Whatever the answer, we need a better charging solution.
