Apple has delayed watchOS 2 — original slated to be released today — due to an unspecified bug. (However, iOS 9 is still due for a roll-out today.).
“We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected,” Apple says in a press statement. “We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.”
Kudos to Apple for being wise enough to delay a problematic product. In 2014, the company was widely criticized for iOS 8, which has its share of problems. Shortly after iOS 8 was introduced, Apple rolled out iOS 8.0.1 to fix some glitches. However, it had its own share of problems, forcing Apple to quickly roll out iOS 8.0.2. This lead some folks to wonder if Apple had overextended itself.
watchOS 2 is the first major software update for Apple Watch. Among other things, it gives developers the tools to build apps running natively on the smartwatch.
