Updates on all news for Apple’s TV+ streaming service

There were several announcements regarding the Apple TV+ while I was on vacation last week, so let’s catch up:

° Apple’s series “Little America,” which explores the inspiring and heartfelt stories of immigrants in America, was nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award in the International series category. The Apple TV+ unscripted series “Tiny World” and “Earth At Night In Color,” which celebrate humanity and the wonder of nature, were nominated for Photography: Factual and Sound: Factual, respectively. The BAFTA TV Awards honor the best British programs and performances of the year.

° A filmed version of the popular Broadway musical “Come From Away” will debut on Apple TV+, according to Variety. Apple Original Films landed rights to the live stage recording, which is being produced and financed by Entertainment One. eOne previously announced plans to unveil the film in September, though Apple has not set an exact release date.

° Apple’s limited series “In With the Devil” is filling out its cast, per The Hollywood Reporter. Greg Kinnear and Sepideh Moafi have joined the six-episode drama opposite Taron Egerton, Paul Walter Hauser and Ray Liotta. Both will play law enforcement officers in the series from Dennis Lehane (“Mystic River,” “The Outsider”).

° The first episode of “The Mosquito Coast” premiered on Friday, April 30. The 10-episode series will follow brilliant inventor Allie Fox as he flees America to create a utopian society in Honduras, but he has unknowingly led his family into unimaginable danger. It stars Justin Theroux as Fox; the series is based on the novel of the same name by Justin’s uncle, Paul Theroux. It will debut on Apple TV+ on April 30.
