Two Foxconn workers die last week; the deaths are being investigated

Hon Hai Precision Industry, which trades as Foxconn Technology Group and which assembles Apple products, said on Monday two workers at its manufacturing facilities in China died last week, even as the company made efforts to improve labor conditions that came under scrutiny after a spate of suicides in recent years, reports Reuters.

Foxconn said a male employee, who joined the company last month, was found dead outside a building in Zhengzhou on Thursday, while a female employee died in a train accident on her way to work on Friday. The company didn’t give further details, but said it was cooperating with authorities investigating the deaths, adds Reuters.

Foxconn is a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturing company headquartered in Tucheng, New Taipei, Republic of China. It is the world’s largest electronics contractor manufacturer, and the third-largest information technology company by revenue.
