Apple CEO Tim Cook has a meeting later today with French President Emmanuel Macron, but he spent time earlier today doing some sightseeing, visiting Apple technology partners, and surprising several app developers.
He started with a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, the burial site of more than 9,300 American soldiers who fought in World War II.

Cook them went on to visit Eldim, a company that Apple has been working with for almost a decade, and is finally tapping for the facial recognition technology that will be featured in the iPhone X. Without Eldim, there would most likely be no Face ID in the next-generation iPhone.

Cook also made surprise visits at the offices of two French developers. MyLittleParis is a startup creating apps that recommend restaurants, hotels, etc… While there, Cook joined the talented developers for a roast chicken lunch:

Cook then went on to visit and congratulate the developers at ManoMaya SA for their popular Coach Guitar app.

Cook meets with French President Emmanuel Macron later today, most likely discussing taxes as EU countries such as France and Germany are making moves to crack down on taxation loopholes that multinational companies like Apple take advantage of.
