Tim Cook discusses women and diversity

Apple CEO Tim Cook sat down with Mashable’s Christina Warren to discuss the role of women and diversity in tech.

“I think the most diverse group will produce the best product, I firmly believe that,” Cook said. Warren asked Cook about the lack of women in tech, and the notion that many simply aren’t interested in a career in technology. For him, that notion is “a cop-out.”

“I think it’s our fault — ‘our’ meaning the whole tech community,” Cook said. “I think in general we haven’t done enough to reach out and show young women that it’s cool to do it and how much fun it can be.”

Read the rest of Warren’s interview of Cook here. And we’d like to give a special shout out to TUAW alumna Christina Warren for doing a great job on such a high-profile interview.
