The Mac now has 14.8% of the U.S. personal computer market

Apple’s computer line continues to increase its share of the personal computer market. What’s more, the Mac has set a new record in the United States.

Apple saw its worldwide Mac sales rise 1.5 percent over the third quarter of 2015, while U.S. shipments jumped 7.3 percent, according to Gartner Inc. That’s the highest ever market share Apple has ever achieved in United States’ PC market, beating the previous record of 13.4 percent.

The research group says Apple now has 7.6 of the global PC market — up from 6.9 percent in the third quarter of 2014. The news is even better in the U.S. Gartner says Apple’s market share here grew 7.3 percent year-over-year and now stands at 14.8 percent. 

Globally, the top 5 personal computer makers, and their market share in quarter three of 2015, are: Lenovo (20.3 percent), HP (18.5 percent), Dell (13.8 percent), Apple (7.6 percent) and Acer (7.4 percent). The top 5 personal computer makers in the U.S., and their market share in quarter three of 2015 are: HP (27.8 percent), Dell (24.2 percent), Apple (14.8 percent), Lenovo (12.5 percent) and Asus (4.5 percent).

Macs have gained global market share for 33 out of the last 34 quarters
