There’s a lot happening in the world of Apple news this week. Following are the hottest articles for the week of Nov. 13-17.

Market research firm TrendForce reports Apple continued the strong shipments of 12-inch laptops in the second quarter, and focused on the new models of MacBook Pro in the third quarter, recording the third quarter shipments of 4.43 million units and an increase of 11.3%. It exceeded ASUS to rank the fourth in the quarter as the number four global manufacturer of laptops.

Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Facebook topped the first “BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable U.S. Brands” ranking released today by WPP and Kantar Millward Brown. 

Apple retook the lead in the wearable band market in quarter three of 2017, with shipments of 3.9 million, reports the Canalys research group. It posted its strongest quarter so far in 2017, thanks to the release of the Apple Watch Series 3. 

Key Apple assembler Quanta Computer says augmented reality (AR) will bring huge business opportunities, adding that a “significant” AR device will be released no later than 2019, according to Nikkei Asian Review. That device is expected to come from Apple.

If you want to buy the best laptop that is out there, go for Apple’s MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, says RESCUECOM President David Milman, whose company repairs tens of thousands of computers annually.

Apple emerged as the clear leader, scoring 114 out of a possible 120 points, plus an additional eight points in extra credit in the 2017 Conflict Minerals Company Rankings by the Enough Project. 

Apple’s iPhone X has been named as one of the “25 Best Inventions of 2017” by TIME magazine. 

In its Threat Intelligence Report for 2017, Nokia has reported the rates of malware infection for mobile devices for the first three quarters of 2017 and found that Apple’s iOS continues to be the most secure operating system. Only 3.54% of devices successfully targeted by malware were iPhones.
