The hottest Apple-related news for the week of Dec. 18-23

There’s a lot happening in the world of Apple news this week. Following are the hottest articles for the week of Dec. 18-24.

Apple plans to allow developers to release universal apps that work across the macOS and iOS as early as next year as part of the company’s “Marzipan” project, according to Bloomberg News. The apps will work with a touchscreen or mouse and trackpad depending on whether it’s running on the iPhone and iPad operating system or on a Mac, the article adds, quoting unnamed “people familiar with the matter.”

Hope you weren’t expecting AirPods under your Christmas tree (unless Santa has already purchased them). Apple’s wireless ear pods are again in short supply.

The overall wearables market is expected to grow from 113.2 million shipments in 2017 to 222.3 million in 2021 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.4%, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker. And smart watches, led primarily by the Apple Watch, are expected to ship 71.5 million units by 2021, up from 31.6 million in 2017.

Another day, another lawsuit. Apple is being sued for its App Store logo by a Chinese clothing brand called Kon that has a similar logo.

Speaking of lawyers, Apple has been hit with another lawsuit regarding its throttling of older iPhones to, per the tech giant, conserve battery life. five customers have filed a federal lawsuit in Chicago against the tech giant for what they’re calling “deceptive, immoral and unethical” practices that violate consumer protection laws.

When it comes to companies that make the most profit per employee, Apple places seventh, Facebook is fourth, and Walmart is 99th, according to Fortune’s Global 500 list of profitable companies.
