Synology introduces DiskStation DS418j, a 4-bay NAS server

Synology has launched the DiskStation DS418j, a budget-friendly (about $325), 4-bay NAS server designed to help home and individual users manage, protect and share data effectively.

Its 64-bit dual-core processor supports over 40TB raw single volume capacity. The DS418j is equipped with a 1GB DDR4 memory (twice the size of its predecessor) and adjustable front LED indicators, allowing users to control and schedule the brightness in four levels.

In addition, the model consumes only 21.22 watts in full operation and as little as 8.97 watts in HDD hibernation. DS418j runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM), anoperating systems for network-attached storage devices, and handles storage management Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) technology. SHR is an automated RAID management system allowing users to create and expand storage volumes and migrate RAID types without requiring details on RAID. SHR provides 1 to 2-disk redundancy to safeguard your data during drive failures.
