Subway testing self-serve kiosks that take Apple Pay, mobile ordering, and more

The next time you go to a Subway sandwich shop, you might find yourself using your Apple products to pay for your meal. The company is testing a new “Fresh Forward” store design in 12 locations in the US, Canada and UK that features self-service order and payment kiosks that accept Apple Pay and Samsung Pay for payment.

Customers will also have an option for delivery and pre-orders through the Subway mobile app and a Facebook Messenger bot. In the stores, there will be a separate food prep area (no more watching someone make your sandwich…) and a designated pre-order pickup location for digital orders. While you’re eating, Subway wants you to enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and recharge your gear as well as yourself by offering more comfortable seating with USB charging ports.

You can check out the new store design in Tamarac, FL; Orlando, FL (2); Winter Park, FL; Chula Vista, CA; Knoxville, TN; Palmview, TX; Hillsboro, OR; Vancouver, WA; Beauport, QC; Granby, QC; and Manchester, UK.
