Some musings on the Worldwide Developer Conference keynote

Most of the announcements have me excited, but …..

Apple announced, as expected, a plethora of new features for macOS, iPadOS, iOS, tvOS, and watchOS. I’m excited about most of the announcements. But here are some of my random thoughts:

° The changes in iPadOS’ multitasking makes me think that it might finally serve as a laptop alternative. My ideal set-up: my 24-inch iMac as my main computer, and an iPad Pro for working while traveling.

° Android and PC users can now use FaceTime, a great move by Apple.

° On the other hand, I’m bummed that there’s still no macOS backup-to-iCloud option

° The rumored “homeOS’ was nowhere to be seen.

° CEO Tim Cook said that last year’s virtual WWDC has more than 25 million viewers. It will be interesting to see how that compares to this year’s numbers.

° Cook also said that Siri is now used on more than 600 million devices.
