Sleep tracking for the Apple Watch could still arrive this year

Apple was expected to debut a sleep tracking feature for the Apple Watch Series 5, but it didn’t. However, it could still happen soon.

MacRumors says reader Daniel Marcinkowski has uncovered a reference to an unreleased Sleep app for the Apple Watch. In the App Store listing for Apple’s preinstalled Alarms app on the Apple Watch, there’s a screenshot of an unreleased version of the Alarms app with a “Sleep” label and fine print that reads “set your Bedtime and wake up in the Sleep app.”

In February a report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said Apple was testing a sleep tracking app for the Apple Watch. He said the tech giant had been using the sleep-tracking feature for several months with testers at secret sites around its Cupertino, California, headquarters.

Gurman said that if the functionality is successful in the testing stages, the company plans to add it to the Apple Watch by 2020. However, some folks expected it to arrive this year and it now seems this could happen.
