Rumors of the day: a high-end gaming Mac and (PRODUCT)RED Apple Watch

The week kicks off with two intriguing rumors, one of which seems very unlikely, the other which sounds probable.

The Economic Daily News claims that Apple will offer a high-end Mac (either an iMac or a MacBook Pro) aimed at gamers — particular esports gamers. Esports is a form of sport competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams.

The Economic Daily News claims a high-end gaming Mac will build on the Apple Arcade service. Specifically, it will make more immersive gaming experiences possible.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) says there’s a 5% chance this will happen. IMHO, Apple simply figures that hard-core Mac games will go for the highest end desktop or laptop they can afford. I don’t see any scenario where the company builds a gaming-centric Mac.

The other rumor, from WatchGeneration, says Apple plans to expand its Apple Watch Series 5 lineup with a new (PRODUCT)RED model. The Sellers Research Group says there’s an 80% chance that this will happen. It makes sense as Apple has introduced (PRODUCT)RED iPhones. However, if it happens, it will probably be in the time frame in which the Apple Watch Series 6 is launched.
