Rumor: Beats to release wireless version of PowerBeats headphones (but why?)

Beats, a subsidiary of Apple, plans to release a totally wireless version of its PowerBeats wireless sports headphones, according to CNET. Seems they’ll be AirPod competitors.

CNET says the wireless PowerBeats earphones are expected to use Apple’s new H1 chip and have the same always-on Siri voice-assistant as the new AirPods, as well as the other connectivity improvements that the H1 is supposed to deliver. The battery life may also be better than the AirPods.

Chances this rumor is true, according to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me): 50%. Maybe this will happen, but why. I’ve said before that Apple should drop the Beats brand and simply go with the Apple logo on all its headphone/audio products. Apple bout Beats Electronics almost four years ago for $3 billion.)
