Rumor: Apple to announce new MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros this month

Apple will announce new MacBook Air models this month and start shipping ‘em next month, according to the Japanese website Mac Otakara — as noted by MacRumors.com . Meanwhile, the report also claims that Apple will announce a complete refresh of the MacBook Pro this month.

Mac Otakara says the 11-inch MacBook Air will be discontinued, the 13-incher will remain, and a 15-inch model will debut. All of the Airs and Pros are rumored to sport Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports and ditch all USB-A, MagSafe, and Thunderbolt 2 ports.

Chances that this rumor is true (IMHO): 60%. I do think that we’ll see new MacBook Pros announced, though I think that won’t happen until August or September (although I’ll be happy to be proven wrong). However, I think Apple will ditch the Air moniker entirely and simply offer MacBooks in 12-inch and 14-inch versions.
