Rumor: Apple developing over-the-ear wireless headphones with swappable parts

Apple is developing its own branded, over-ear wireless headphones with parts that can be swapped in and out in an effort to augment its AirPods biz with a higher-end audio product, according to a report ,by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

“Prototypes of the headphones have a retro look with oval-shaped ear cups that swivel and a headband connected by thin, metal arms,” he writes.

Gurman says the headphones will have headband pads and ear pads that attach magnetically and which can be replaced with other sizes — or when they need to be replaced. They’ll sport noise cancellation features, Siri support, and sport touch controls, he added

Chances the rumor is true, according to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me): 99%. Even though it still seems strange to me that Apple would offer Apple-branded AND Beats-branded audio products, Gurman is one of the most reliable Apple “prophets” around.
