Rumor: A14X processor for ‘Apple Silicon’ Mac, next iPad Pro to enter production in quarter four

Apple’s 5-nanometer-based A14X processor will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year, according to  DigiTimes. It’s expected to be used in the first “Apple Silicon” Mac and the next iPad Pro.

Apple Silicon is, per Apple, “world-class custom silicon to deliver industry-leading performance and powerful new technologies.” It involves customized ARM technology, as well as Apple’s own System on a Chip.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks the DigiTimes reports makes sense. I think the first Apple Silicon Mac will be a 12-inch MacBook that will arrive in time for the holidays. However, I don’t expect to see a next gen iPad Pro until the first or second quarter of 2021.
