Quarter one sees Apple’s smartphone market share jump 2.2% year-over-year

A new report from BanklessTimes analysis of data shows that Samsung shipped 73.6 million smartphones in the first quarter of  2022, the largest volume of any manufacturer. This gave Samsung a global market share of 23.4% 

Apple takes the second spot, having sold 56 million smartphones. That volume saw Apple’s market share stand at 18%, which indicates a 2.2% jump in year-on-year (YOY) change, according to BanklessTimes CEO Jonathan Merry, CEO of Bankless Times, which provides news and informational content about the alternative finance industry. . 

Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi came in third After Apple. The outfit shipped 39.9M phones in quarter one of 2022, accounting for nearly 13% of all the global smartphone consignment of that period. Fellow Chinese manufacturers Oppo and Vivo complete the top five smartphone suppliers by volume.
