Proton Mail, an encrypted email service, has released its desktop app to all paying users. The new application offers macOS and Windows desktop users encrypted access to their Proton Mail and Proton Calendar.
Proton Mail’s desktop app offers users the robust end-to-end encryption of Proton Mail and Proton Calendar, with the convenience of a dedicated desktop app., acceding to David Dudok de Wit, Head of Growth at Proton Mail. With the launch of Proton Mail’s desktop app, users can get the productivity benefits of a desktop app, safe in the knowledge that their privacy is secure, he adds.
This follows the successful launch of desktop apps across other parts of Proton’s ecosystem. Proton Drive and Proton Pass have both launched dedicated support on desktop. Dudok de Wit says the increased functionality provided by a desktop app is something that other big providers such as Gmail and Yahoo don’t provide, and is a feature often requested specifically by business customers looking for the ease of use with the privacy and security of Proton’s end-to-end encryption.
