Protecting the 10.5-inch iPad Pro in style with products from DODOcase

DODOcase has been making handcrafted cases, bags, and other products in San Francisco since 2010, and the company is continuing its history of protecting iPads with the new DODOcase for iPad Pro 10.5-inch ($69.95) and the iPad Pro 10.5 Durables Sleeve Case ($69.95). We had a chance to check out both and here’s our take on how they work with Apple’s smallest iPad Pro.

DODOcase for iPad Pro 10.5-inch

The original DODOcase used a wood frame with padded corners to hold your iPad in place, and while that was quite nice looking, those pads had a tendency to fall out and get lost, especially if you removed your iPad from the case on occasion.

The new DODOcase uses a polyurethane tray to hold the iPad Pro in place, and I have to admit that I like it better. There are no pads to install or lose, and the iPad Pro is firmly gripped. There’s full access to all buttons and ports, and a cutout allows the 10.5-inch iPad Pro’s camera to be used with no problems.

If you love Moleskine notebooks, then you’ll really love the DODOcase for iPad Pro 10.5-inch. The company made its reputation on bookbinding expertise, and this product shows that they’re still producing top-notch cases. The review case had a black exterior with a gray interior, and other color combinations include dove gray and indigo, green and gunnysack, and granite and merlot.

The case includes an elastic band for keeping the cover closed in transit, and the iPad Pro is fully protected. There’s another elastic band that holds an Apple Pencil in place. The DODOcase can be used like a book — perfect for reading ebooks, by the way — or the cover can be flipped all the way behind the screen. In landscape mode, the screen angle can be adjusted to a number of positions.

One thing I would like to see is a set of magnetic strips to hold the iPad Pro’s position a bit more securely instead of relying on friction. On occasion when I was using the case in my lap, I’d bump it and the screen would flop a bit.

Other than that one complaint, the DODOcase is classy-looking and really decent protection for your 10.5-inch iPad Pro! Note that for a slightly higher price (starting at $79.95) you can create a custom DODOcase for your 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

iPad Pro 10.5-inch Durables Sleeve

For some iPad Pro owners, a case isn’t the answer, so DODOcase has you covered with the Durables Sleeve. It’s a classic, using waxed canvas on the outside, a cotton twill lining for softness, and a middle layer of recycled felt to pad your iPad Pro. Mahogany leather accents provide a nice grip on one side and a snap closure to keep the iPad Pro from sliding out.

Although I was unable to test it, the Durables Sleeve apparently works with an iPad Pro with Apple’s Smart Keyboard attached. This makes for a lightweight protective sleeve in transit, after which the Smart Keyboard and iPad Pro can be pulled out easily for work.

The Durables Sleeve comes in three finishes: Midnight, Sage and Navy. A small interior loop on one side of the sleeve holds your Apple Pencil in place. I personally like the waxed canvas exterior; these are extremely durable — hence the name — and tend to age nicely. I personally think that this sleeve, a 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and the Apple Smart Keyboard would make for a lightweight, protective, and powerful computing combination.
