OWC unveils the Akitio Node Titan, a Mac-compatible eGPU

At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), OWC announced the upcoming Akitio Node Titan, an external graphics processing Unit (eGPU) that lets users transform their notebook or other slotless computer (Mac mini, iMac, MacBook Pro, NUC, etc.) into a gaming, video editing and graphics workstation.

It connects to a Thunderbolt 3-equipped computer. In macOS 10.14 and later, you can turn on “Prefer external GPU.” For graphics cards (sold separately) that require more than the x16 PCIe slot industry standard 75W output, the Node Titan packs a 650W power supply that can handle cards like the Radeon RX Vega 64.

The Akitio Node Titan is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2020 through MacSales.com. Pricing hasn’t been announced
