Notable apps and updates, Oct. 29-Nov. 3

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Wolf + Friends has launched a free app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wolf-friends/id1436893835?mt=8) designed for moms to connect with like-minded women in their neighborhoods who are also raising children with special needs such as autism, anxiety, ADHD, sensory processing issues, developmental delays, mental health issues, down syndrome, and other learning differences. 

Kaleidescape has launched the free Kaleidescape Mobile App, which provides customers a user interface for selecting and purchasing movies, and controlling the playback of feature films, concerts, and TV shows on their Kaleidescape system. 

macOS Apps/Updates

FAL Works has launched Solid Aether, a 2D shoot ’em up game for macOS. It features a variety of bullet patterns that are generated continuously in a black and white world. 

Players must dodge bullets and destroy enemies while enjoying various bullet patterns and the ambience in an abstract world. Each level is characterized by its own music and tendency of bullet patterns.

Solid Aether costs $6.99. It’s available on Steam and itch.io.

Pubblog has announced MailSteward 13, an update to the email archiving solution for the Mac. 

The app archives email in a relational database for easy access and safe backup of all your email. Version 13 is fully compatible with macOS 10.14 (Mojave) including a new Dark Mode option. This release also implements a more robust method for scheduling using the macOS “launchd” service and several minor bug fixes.

MailSteward costs $49.95. There’s a “lite” version for $24.95, and a “pro” version for $99.95. A demo is available for download.

Zevrix Solutions has announced ArtOptimizer 2.7.12, a compatibility update to its workflow automation solution for Adobe Illustrator. 



The tool is designed to help users reduce Illustrator link size and speed up processing by automatically eliminating excess image data and performing essential image adjustments. Version 2.7.12 adds compatibility with Illustrator and Photoshop CC 2019.

ArtOptimizer can be purchased from the Zevrix website (www.zevrix.com) for $119.95. A demo is available for download. ArtOptimizer requires macOS 10.5-10.14, and Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop CS3-CC 2019.
